Community Health Workers: Final Report

This final report includes an evidence review and policy analysis, as well as a summary of deliberation and vote if the independent New England CEPAC at a public meeting. Building upon initial research conducted by AHRQ, the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and various state-based initiatives, the goals of this review are to 1) document the evolution of community health worker (CHW) programs within New England as well as nationally; 2) summarize the evidence on CHW program impact on health outcomes and costs and identify program components associated with success; 3) examine the potential budgetary impact of implementing CHW programs; and 4) provide insights from policy experts on potential best practices in CHW implementation.
