Belén Herce-Hagiwara, BA

Senior Research Assistant

Belén joined ICER as a Research Assistant in September of 2020, and was promoted to Senior Research Assistant in 2023. In her role, she uses her background in biological research and data analysis to screen existing literature to inform evidence-based reviews.

Belén graduated from Grinnell College in May of 2020 with a BA in Biology and a minor in Neuroscience. During her undergraduate career, Belén worked in advocacy and community outreach at Monsoons Asians and Pacific Islanders in Solidarity, an Iowa-based organization serving victims and survivors of intimate partner violence. Prior to that, she conducted independent research with the Grinnell College Biology Department on the role of target proteins in the DNA damage response pathway and presented her results at the University of Chicago. In her spare time, Belén enjoys sewing and repurposing thrifted pieces of clothing into new clothes!
