Varun Kumar, MBBS, MPH, MSc
In his role as health economist at ICER, Varun oversees and develops economic evaluations that assess cost-effectiveness, budget impact, and monetary value of a wide range of health technologies, treatments, and interventions in the United States health care landscape.
Prior to joining ICER, Varun was a Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) fellow in the Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy – College of Pharmacy, at the University of Illinois, Chicago. In this role, he led several real-world evidence studies and economic evaluations for the U.S. HEOR group of Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that, Varun was a healthcare analyst within the Strategy and Transformations group at Apollo Hospitals Pvt. Ltd in India. In this role, he was responsible for strategy development and implementation of projects in preventative health, primary care, and rural access to care. He also has experience working in the not-for-profit health care sector in India.
Varun holds a degree in Medicine from Sri Ramachandra University, an MPH from the University of Nottingham, and a Master’s degree in Health Economics and Decision Modeling from the University of Sheffield.
